The penultimate round of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB series rolls into Silverstone for Rounds 12 and 13. With two Free Practice sessions on the cards for today, qualifying tomorrow and then the two races on Sunday, it’s shaping up to a very busy three-day meeting.
Today’s sessions also see the debut of my ‘new’ Carrera GT3 Cup car, which (not out of choice) loses the very popular Tiffany Blue finish (see below) in favour of a brilliant white paint job. As you’ll remember the previous car was damaged after an unfortunate collision in the second race at Knockhill last month, which necessitated a bit rebuild by my Redline Racing team...
In just a few weeks, the team have performed a miracle in getting a car turned around in time for Silverstone and I’m hugely grateful for their efforts to get me on the grid.
We’ll be racing on the Silverstone national circuit this weekend and it’s a challenging circuit with four main corners (Copse, Becketts, Brooklands and Luffield) interspersed with the bends at Maggotts and sweeping right-hander at Woodcote and the long straights (Pits and Wellington)
The great thing about Silverstone is the numerous vantage points to watch the action and the race itself generally provides plenty of entertainment for the crowds. SO just how is this weekend shaping up? Well, in the ProAm1 class, I’ll be looking to build on the two podiums myself and the Redline Racing team have already secured in the last two meetings at Snetterton and Knockhill.
After the great pace we showed at Knockhill before the crash, our team is eager to get out there and replicate that form as we look to finish the season strongly in preparation for a full-on challenge for the 2018 season.
